His parents were Johannes Johannessen and Marta Ivarsdatter, of Kvalavag Farm, Avaldsnes Parish, Rogaland County, Norway. Caroline was born, 3 February 1830. Her parents were Mikkel Ingebrigtsen and Ingeborg Nisdtr, Erland Farm, Tysvær Parish, Rogaland County, Norway.

He was the son of Johannes Andreassen and Dorte Olsdatter, the former sub-farm owner. Marta was born in 1804 and died in 1837. She was the daughter of Ivar Gunnarsen and Anna Størkersdatter, from Nordstokke Farm, Kopervik Parish, Rogaland County, Norway. Johannes and Marta were married in 1827.

He was the son of Ingebrigt Mikkelsen and Marita Olsdtr, of Klovning Farm, Tysvær Parish, Rogaland County, Norway. Ingeborg was born in 1794 and died in 1843. She was from Boknaberg Farm, Bokn Parish, Rogaland County, Norway. Mikkel and his third wife, Catrine Jakobsdtr, emigrated from Norway to the US, in 1872.

Her parents were Størker Bjørnsen from Svinali Farm in Skjold Parish, Rogaland County, Norway.
